How to Par Bake a Perfect Pie Crust

Par baking a pie crust kick starts the baking process and helps to prevent a soggy pie bottom.

Roll your pie dough out to a circle larger than your pie pan.

Line the pan with the dough and allow it to settle into the pan.

Trim any excess, leaving at least an inch overhanging.

Tuck and fold the edges of the pie dough under.

Crimp the pie crust using your fingers and your thumb.

Chill the crust and dock, then fill with crumpled parchment paper.

Fill with pie weights or baking beans. Bake until the crust is just golden brown.
